Last night was held the General Assembly of the Development Committee farmers in the country Châteaulin. Many people in the multipurpose room Plomodiern, elected officials, farmers, environmental associations, etc..
For my part I went mainly to listen to a profession that is suffering economically and socially much, and too quickly fingered as responsible for many evils : pollution of land and water, health risks citizens, commodity prices, etc.. The cartoon, from all sides, is a very bad solution and does nothing to bring about lasting solutions and shared .
Yesterday's discussion focused on green algae.
The subject is sensitive, very. It affects our living environment, the quality of our land, our health can be (although not proven) to our local economy (tourism, agriculture), in short, our quality of life over the long term. Sylvain Ballu (CEVA) made a lengthy intervention technique, fairly balanced. Christian Buson (Environment Institute) gave a presentation that was limited to dismantle one of the other speaker, demonstration caricatured, grotesque, and unproductive.
Today what is obvious is a certain willingness of the state not to take responsibility. Productivist agricultural policies have been pushed for decades, subsidized by political decisions. The majority union, the FNSEA, has echoed this view for decades. Responsibilities are shared among all. Solutions must be discussed, worked and shared among all.
Local authorities (Divanac'h Paul is in charge of this issue for the future and CCPCP SAGE Bay of Douarnenez) must return their copy to the regional prefecture in the next few months, after working on our territory, in conjunction with all stakeholders. But what the state will play its role? The current governance, highly directive and unilaterally raised fears simplistic answers, uniforms to all territories and therefore ineffective.
I had already responded in September 2010 on this blog that question. In 6 months I would not change a line article time. And, as expressed by Alain Le Quellec last night, do not forget a key issue: the social, economic and health of farmers, their future, the future of the industry, the young farmers, etc..
